Welcome to the club!!
I am taking Verapamil for my migraine but when the attack starts, only Ibuprofen or Neproxen works. I have used this so much that now it leads to bleeding within hours of taking it. I have same theory that my headache is due to inflammation (with UC connection), a simple argument, why only NSAIDs work and none other, not even opioids work as an abortive. When I talked to my neurologist, he dismissed it as just a theory with no proof to it. I wasn't very impressed but he seems to have no alternative for me at the moment. I tried butalbital (Fioricet) but it didn't help. Then I talked to my PCP who is very thorough, he asked me to try Nabumetone. Its a new class of NSAIDs that supposedly have less GI side effects. I have used it only once. The response is mixed, it did relieve me of migraine but started bleeding. I am not too sure if the bleeding is due to Nabumetone or antibiotic (Azithromycin) that I was taking at the same time.
Quincy has a point about blood pressure. Even I am pondering over it so planning to buy a BP monitor so that I can record my BP everyday (and after eating certain type of foods) I maintained a diary of headache for 2 years but failed to find any trigger though.
I didn't understand the rationale behind kidney function test.
