colonoscopy

Ok so I think phew finally over the worst of the prep stuff.  I tell ya that liquid stuff is foul.  First five glasses I had full, then I went to half a glass for a while now I'm down to "I'm going to finish this glass and that's it." I'm pretty much running clear and hubby said things should start to taper off now and into the evening but oh my goodness that was so not fun.  certainly no walk in the park.  I might even try having a jello in a little bit once my belly settles down.  I'm not supposed to eat or drink after midnight.  all i've had today is a couple of jello's and two popscicles and a can of chicken broth.  yummy stuff huh anyway thanks for the tips and the support.  I've been chasing this stuff with 7up and that is working pretty well.  along with some mental coaching "don't throw it up, don't throw it up" and pacing myself with it.  I tried to drink as much as i could right off the bat, but then had to slow things down or it wasn't going to stay down.  Hopefully i won't have to go through this again for a while.  Their has got to be an easier way to achieve the same effect with a pill as modern as medicine is you would think...

There are pills from what I have been told but there are many many of them. I don't know how many but as I'm horrible at taking pills, my doctor told me I wouldn't want to try it.

Isn't it a great feeling when it's OVER? It's definitely worth getting any polyps removed.

I get a lot of these rashes that come and go too and I agree, they always go away by the time you can get in to see a doctor. Did you ever try A&D ointment? Sometimes it's helpful. At least it's a female doctor, I'd feel really weird showing a man - I know it's silly but I can't help it.

Ok so I got my official letter from the doctor.  The polp wasn't cancerous.  Their were no findings of colitus or chron's disease and he is stating that my stomach issues D/C are related to IBS.  Which has been my thought all along.  I posted on IBS about this without much response.  I'm not surprised really about the IBS because it seems to be a symptom of Hypothyroidism.  My question is this, what and where should I start.  What are some simple changes that I can do right now.  I know I need to 1-quit smoking for one thing, but that's going to be so dang hard 2-I know I need to excersise at least some 3-I know and have always known i need to work on my eating habits 4-I know I'd like to loose 10 pounds.  That's a lot to take on but it seems making these changes might help some in the tummy area.  I'm really thinking about getting involved with a dietition(sp) or nutritionist to help with some of these things.  I know I won't be able to tackle all of this by myself.  I would get seriously over whelmed by the vast amount of information plus a lot of it is greek to me.  like what the heck does glutten look like on a label?  Which I still feel that might be a contributing factor.  where do I start?  I'm supposed to follow up with the doctor in six weeks to see if I have improved any.  Oh yes six weeks is going to just take it all away, not.  The nice thing is I should have seen the dermatologist by then so maybe all these little pieces to the puzzle will come together.  He wants me to come back in a year for another colonoscopy oh joy.  Next time i have to drink that stuff I'm going to try mixing it with gatorade.  There were a couple of times when I didn't think i was going to be able to keep that down.  anyway, where's a good starting point or should i give myself some time to let all this sink in? any advice is appreciative.

I just had a colonoscopy about 10 days ago. I was given Versed and Demerol. I had a very relaxing nap in recovery, and then another nice 2 hour nap at home.

The next morning, my digestive system was a bit unsettled so I took the morning off from work. By afternoon I was ok and back at work.

I noticed for the first day or two, food just did not taste good. Everything tasted a little bit off, but I could eat regular meals.
