And now as promised earlier today we move on to the second in our series of patient centered research studies, this one titled: Ca-Ca In Ulcerative Colitis: Creatio Ex Nihilo or Self-Circulating?
This question emerges from the speculations of two of our more inquiring researchers, infinitespark and sherbear. They raise the question, precisely where in heaven's name does all of that ca-ca come from in a UC flare? Now, one might begin this inquiry from one of two starting points, the first that flare ca-ca is simply created out of nothing - or in the Latin, creatio ex nihilo - or the second, and prescinding from the possibility that more than a few UC suffers are simply full of it in the first place, that the ca-ca is mysteriously recycled somehow. I tend to favor the former view, that as a flare progresses it makes a demand opon the infinite that is treated as a necessity and responded to accordingly. This view has the advantage of offering a kind of philosophical or even theological shield against the arguments of ill-intentioned antagonists and at the same time avoids the derogatory and insensitive appraisal of the character of UC sufferers offered by the second. Admittedly, this view raises more questions than it answers, but for the time being let us treat it as a point of departure. Your thoughts?
