So my husband felt I needed a nose job but didn't want me to spend the money. (I had had a nose job 25 years ago that left broken grafts, mounds of scar tissue, some poking through the skin. The cartilage collapsed on the right side like a tent, then the nose twisted the left. When I finally decided on the doc and the date, he said this better be good for thousands being spent. Well, the doc told me that it would take a year for the swelling to go down. I knew I would get hell from my husband for a year before it looked right. So the surgery happens. I'm put on prednisone for a six day blast and taper. On day six, they took off the splint and bandages and I looked beautiful. My husband was in love with my new nose. Then the next day, with no more pred, my nose ballooned. Man, I was just thinking of the number pred does on a colon. I'm so glad my husband saw it in the prednisone state for at least one day. Now he can deal with the swelling. The temporary effectiveness of pred made me feel like I was in the movie "Awakenings"
BTW - surgeon wanted me off Asacol for a week. Said no of course. Couldn't figure out why. It's not like Asacol is a blood thinner. Anyway, after delaying because of two years of being UC sick, I'm glad I could reward myself with a makeover. Well worth it.
