Norovirus

Sorry, I don't have any tips but that would scare me too. Though, I am sure they have done thorough cleaning.

Wash your hands often. Bring hand sanitizer. Keep your hands away from your face and fingers out of your mouth.

They have hand sanitizer everywhere you turn on the ships now. Use it. They are pretty good at keeping the ships clean but people are gross.
If someone doesn't wash their hands and then pushes an elevator button or a handrail or a lounger and you touch it...yuck. Carry a small one in your bag or pocket and use often.

Have fun!! I'm going again next February and wish I didn't have to wait so long!!

Take higher dosage good quality probiotics and fibre supplements as well. Definitely wash hands, but you won't be able to protect yourself fully....that's why I suggest the probiotics for sure!

Don't forget your meds!

I would cancel or reschedule until I knew things were safe. Given the circumstances, I'm sure that would be allowable by the cruiseline.

     Nah, I wouldn't cancel.  Just be extra careful.  When I suffered with UP there was an outbreak of the Norovirus on our ship.   A man from our group, who also sat at our dinner table, came down with it.  He was confined to his room for three days AND the cruise line reimbursed him $300 for being considerate.  Not sure if other people would do that.  Anyway, it was a Holland America line and they were super cautious, wiping down stairwells, etc.  They would not let people touch food.  They had servers out with trays and tongs which they used to place the food on plates.

     Use the hand sanitizers faithfully.  You'll be fine.  I never got sick until three weeks after the cruise, and that was my normal flare .  I was always fortunate enough to maintain my health when cruising and we took seven cruises.  I now have an ostomy and found out it could be life threatening to contract that virus on a cruise if they are not equipped with IV fluids.   We had enough cruising.....just sticking with our RV .

     By the way...where are you going?  A tip...stay away from local foods.  We had people who got sick from eating God knows what on one of the islands.  But, you most like know better than that anyway.

     Have a great time!!  Is it on a Princess line?  I saw on the news three of their ships were docked because of the Norovirus. 

     Our daughter and her fiance are going on a cruise in May.  I believe it is on Explorer of the Seas, to the southern Carribbean.

Don't just think about the cruise ship but the seats on the airplane and the bus or taxi rides to and from places. I always wipe the armrests & table tray with an antibacterial wipe on flights. Also, don't put your books or belongings in the back pocket of the airplane seat---people stuff their dirty tissues down there and it NEVER gets cleaned.

No need to be a germaphobe but just being mindful can help. Enjoy the cruise!
