When I was suffering from UP, I never had any luck getting it into "remission". I had to use the Canasa very regularly to get my symptoms to remain at bay. After a year to 2 years, my UP spread. I was unable to afford Canasa and I didn't use it regularly. I don't blame the progression on that though, I think it would have progressed regardless ot whether I continued using Canasa.
There is a cheaper option available throughout the rest of the world called salofalk but it's not available in teh US unfortunately. When I was unninsured I purchased salofalk from Canadian pharmacies. After a while, I learned about
the Canasa PAP program and I got enrolled. It was $5 a monthf or one box. They have since changed the program and it's $20 for a box but that's way better than paying retail. I think a box is about
$700. My insurace now covers it for $20 so the PAP doesn't help me.
