Before being properly diagnosed, I was seeing a natural doctor at an Alternative Health Center to deal with my "3/bowels a day, trace of blood in stools issue", I was given some plant herbs also and because she couldn't properly diagnose me, she just assumed I needed more fiber (bulk) to my diet. By taking these pills this unfortunately ended up speeding up the process of disease. We tried acupuncture for 3 weeks but things were getting worse and at that point I had to go see a GI doc.
Acupuncture, regardless of UC is so beneficial to improve energy and cardiovascular function and yes even reduce symptoms in some UC patients. Unfortunately it didnt work for me, and for it to properly work I've learned you need to be going for 6 weeks at least to have some results. It cost me $75 bucks a session (insurance may not cover), but I dont regret spending money because its there is alot of research on it that proves beneficial. It's becoming popular among pro sports players too.
My older sister graduated with a degree in Natural Health and she swears by acupuncture, that it saved her life from depression 2 years ago while living in Boston.
