Inflammation manifesting outside the colon - anyone else?

I noticed that my eyes get inflamed relatively easily - whether or not I have active symptoms. Yesterday my eye started to get red and today it's really red. Just angry looking. This isn't the first time it's happened - in fact, I had a really bad episode of scleritis not so long ago. I hope this isn't heading there. Anyway, the doc asked if I had some type of autoimmune disease because 9/10 that's who gets eye issues like that. Great. Does this sort of thing - eye or otherwise - happen to anyone else?

I'm feeling very grumpy about all of this because on top of not being in remission and having to take a bunch of meds to try to reach remission, the meds make me feel like crap and cause me to break out, I can't seem to get rid of the acne AND now I have this eye issue! ARGH! Can't I catch a break?!

Have you been diagnosed for the eye issue? Uvitis/Iritis are treatable but you need to be on top of the issue. My daughter had red eye last year during a terrible UC flare. We had an on call ophthalmologist see her and it turned out to be viral conjunctivitis (there is an autoimmune conjunctivitis). He was very clear that if we noticed anything with her eyes she needed to be seen urgently and that everyone who had been on pred or had IBD needed yearly checkups.
Sorry you're going through this and hope you can get it all under control - sometimes when the UC goes into remission the other stuff does too I hear.
