Is Hydrocortisone enema same as foam steroid enema

Hi,
I do not know much abt steroid enemas so could you please help me here.
my doctor has prescribed hydrocortisone enema, so does hydrocortisone enema always means foam enema or could it be something different as well. Prescription is : HYDROCORTISONE 100 MG/60 ML ENEMA ... I haven't picked it from pharmacy yet. I wanted to use foam enema ... but this quantity seems quite a lot...hope it is not something like big steroid tube like Rowasa.

     No, the foam is different than the cort enemas.  I didn't have any luck at all with the foam.  He placed me on that when I could not hold the cort enema in.

I love those cort enema's! They are soooo soothing for me. If you think it will be too much only use 1/2 of it and lay on your left side for 20 minutes then try the rest. I absorb mine within those 20 minutes and I can get up and do stuff afterwards but it took me weeks to get to that point.

No, they are different. It sounds like your RX is for the liquid enemas-- same size as Rowasa, but the hydrocortisone usually gets absorbed totally & makes your inflammation heal much faster. It can reach the sigmoid colon topically & upper colon systemically after a few weeks of daily use. The steroid foam is a much lower dose designed to treat the rectum/anal canal. / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I've been using them for over a month and still bleeding. Why don't these things work for me? I just don't get it.

Hope they work better for you! Some people love them.

your inflammation might be higher than can be reached by the enema
