pred tapering question

hi , I have a question regarding pred tapering I have been on this since October 20th, 2011 can I start taking 2.5mg one day and next day nothing and keep alternating? I am in the homestretch to getting off of it. basically, 2.5mg then next day 0mg.

I have every side effect from this drug, severe nausea, dizziness, fatigue, etc. I am eagerly waiting to get of of it. my UC seems much much better but urgency issues are still there.

Thats what I do, I taper by 2.5 every week until Im down to 2.5, then 0... 2.5 then 0...

I did that and my symptoms returned! it gets tricker as you get lower. Try asking your doc to prescribe 2.5mg pills and cut them in quarter to finish tapering...that's what I'll do next time.

My GI prescribed 1mg pills so I could taper by 1mg every 3-4 days starting at 10mg. It will take approx 1 month to go from 10mg to 0mg.

How are your symptoms? I Hope you're feeling well. I would do exactly as you described if you're having no symptoms. If i were having symptoms, I would probably decrease by 1mg and try to ween off slowly.

hi notsosicklygirl, how r u? lately I have more problems with the side effects of prednisone than the UC! hair is falling out in clumps, dizzy , weak and was immobile at one point, even severe nausea. I am going to another doctor and he is very concerned why I was on pred for so long.
