Greek, I am glad you are feeling better, but i am very skeptical of anyone that says CURE for UC, or anyone who says you have to do EXACTLY what they did to achieve a cure.
I Have had UC since 1991, and i had a 15 year remission, with the first 10 of those years I saw no GI dr, taking NO meds for UC, eating the same crappy sugary, fast food, processed food diet, drank alcohol, etc. In 2001 I was tested positive for hpylori stomach ulcer and gerd, was treated sucessfully for the stomach ulcer, and the gi put me on asacol for maintenence, I took asacol for the first year or two, and then not seeing the point stopped. After 1 flare in 1991, I did not have a second flareup until 2006.
Unfortunately i have been in a flare up almost continuously now since 2008, i take my meds religiously, i eat healthy, have cut out gluten, sugar, processed food, fast foods, chocolate, dairy, plus more, i have tried all kinds of supplements, and yet can not get rid of this flare.
I say all of this to make the point that I did nothing right for 15 years and had no flare ups, and now i do everything they say to do and cant get rid of the flare.
You can't say cure with Uc, you dont know when its coming back. And everybody here seems to respond to different things. What helps UC is so individual.
Every once in a while a person pops into the new forum and says" I am cured and you can be cured too if you do X Y Z" .
The regulars that post on this forum are an intelligent bunch, they research everything out there and people here have tried pretty much everything that might help and then report back.
People may be more willing to hear what you say if you use the words remission, not cure, and if you realize and respect the fact that everone here is different and nothing works for everybody
