Hi,
I wanted to ask if anyone experiences skin problems along with UC. In the past two months or so, while also in a mild flare, I started having some lumps or bad pimples in the groin area. I had a very bad boil on the buttocks, but it drained in about
a week. Sorry for the graphic descript
ion!
Three days ago, I noticed some painful lumps under my arms. They are under the skin, and have not
opened up yet. I have been reading about
possible diagnostics and found out about
a condition called Hidradenitis suppurativa. It is sometimes related to auto-immune diseases and has no known cure. Yay, just what I like! I am not sure that this is what I have, I will go see my doctor, but the descript
ions look awfully similar and I am almost sure I will have to deal with this on top of colitis...
Has anyone else experienced a similar skin condition?
Thanks for your thoughts, best of health to all,
RT

Yep, I've had rashes, blisters, boils, cysts....you name it I've probably had it at one time or another. Like we don't have enough to deal with huh?

Wow. Yes I have them on my back and butt, not cool. But I think for me they are stress and diet related. When I started adding gluten back in the mix, I started getting them alot.

I have bumps on my arms. They don't bother me and people don't notice them. I normally get hives and take lots of antihistmines so that I don't but sometimes still do. May be time to go back to the allergist.

Starting just this year(dx 2004) I began to get skin manifestations like you described as well--really painful large pimple type things on my butt, groin and scalp. I saw a dermatologist and was told it is probably related to the overall inflammation process/autoimmune disease. Concurrently, I have also had recurrent mouth sores, kind of think its all related.
Stereofidelic, interesting that you noticed these issues more when you added gluten back into your diet, I just stopped eating all grains including gluten of course and it will be interesting to see if some of this clears up.

I usually have at least one. This is how I tell I'm flaring :-( I have one right now I probably should have gotten lanced by a DR. It's gonna leave a bad scar.
I wonder if there's any good at home treatment for these?

Yes, I got them as well. Anyone know of any good way to get rid of these? They do leave a scar. Got many on my butt.
