Well, I'm feeling a little more positive today. Yesterday was another proverbial 'dark night of the soul.' I just wanted to share a few things about how it's been going for me. It helps me to be able to do this I think.
Recently I've been experiencing right-side pain, abdominal cramping (3days of joy), nausia (bert the bucket always by my bed, sweats, fatigue (like I'm carrying someone else around on my back) raw inflammation and the inability to get comfortable thus sleeplesness. In varying degrees that pretty much sums up the last two weeks. Oh along with atleast 10 urgent shuffles to the toilet for noisy ass explosions. The past day has just been with paracetamol, which works for a short time but well.. not really adequate when you don't even want to be near your own body. I have had Tramadol before, which works in as much as the pain goes away, but I don't want to get into that stuff from what I have read.
I visited my friendly Indonesian doctor today, a test result showed I no longer had the amoebic parasite that caused my UC. The test was done about a week ago, but during the week that followed it I was very much incapable of doing anything at all. So I can say the cause has been eliminated (hopefully) yet I asked the doctor to clarify (with the use of the best interpreter I could find) whether or not it was definitely Ulcerative Colitis. He said it was chronic active UC, which in my current state I can expect to see some daylight from in a few months. So the Amoebiasis caused it and now it's there, does that mean forever?
My blood was up from h/b 10.3-10.6 and my liver function seemed fine (I was worried the burning side was my liver complaining.)
I was prescribed today -
Sulfasalazine 3x500mg/day (anti inflammatry I beleive, it's an NSAID though? Hmm)
Folic acid and sorbitol w/ vitamins and minerals in the form of Biosanbe 1/day (to restore blood haemaglobin as treatment for Anaemia)
Omeprazole 2x20mg/day (I did a little cheer as I have read in many places on here how Omeprazole is a wonder at sorting out cramping that people experience)
Tramadol 2x50mg/day I couldn't believe it. My friend gave me some but I wasn't sure about it because of potential withdrawel terrors. Yet here I was with a prescription for the stuff. Well atleast it will take care of any pain.
I must say I haven't been eating very much, mainly bananas and poached eggs with a piece of white bread. This seems to go down well. I had a protein shake which contained whey, I vomited that little number. Think I'll still be staying clear of dairy! I have been smoking around 15 cigs a day, which seem to effect things very little. However, today I have had just 3 spread out over the day and I've found myself farting and with much less abdominal irritation. I have also found that a tiny passing headache and a slight sweat come on mixed with a little nausia when I do smoke. I've been smoking for some time now and this something I can observe as seperate from my normal experience.
Anyway enough of my life story, if anyone can help with any aspect of this or make any suggestions I would very much appreciate it.
P.s. I literally spend hours trawling through these forums, it makes me less stranded and doomed.
P.p.s Back to England in one week!
