You can also purchase meds from online Canadian pharmacies- sometimes it is less expensive than buying them WITH insurance.
I do this for the Canasa suppositories and pay $49/30 supps. at Canada mail order (costs over $600 in US). However you need a doctors RX to get them. I have a very high deductible on my health insurance so I pay for my meds out of my pocket.
My generic Colazal (called Balsalazide) is $108/US and similar price from Canada.
Mesalamine enemas (which are the BEST med I used) are way expensive at $270/30 enemas and same price either country. However if you can get the Rx I strongly urge you to spend that money for at least 30 days and use them nightly. Then once you see less bleeding and improved symptoms you can switch over to the Canasa suppositories at $49.
When doctors give us script
s for meds they rarely know how much they cost because some people don't pay anything.
We have to be our own caretakers and search for ways to get good meds.
Good luck.
P.S. Diet modification also had a LOT to do with my remission, probably equal to or greater than meds but I use everything possible that is safe and works.
