so my neighbours kids have chicken pox and i am on predisolone. does any of yous know if im a risk. my mums not sure if i ever had them. my brother remembers having them but i dont. im tying to keep my own kids away from them but they've already been exposed.

You'll know soon enough if you start getting a fever and blisters. But try not to think about it, be positive and say to yourself "my body is strong", worrying will not help. I don't know if predinose will lower your immune system a bunch for you to get the chicken pox.

just trying to prepare myself for the onslaut. kids go to school together and play together so it cant be avoided. any1 know if anything i could do or take to boost my immunity

have your kids not had the vaccine? If they are vaccinated, there should be very little risk. If you never had the chicken pox as a kid, you should absolutely get the vaccine.

I am on 6mp and Prednisone and one of my kids is not vaccinated. I am worried about this too. He is on autism spectrum and we are not sure we want to vacc him. I did have it as a kid but I worry about shingles too.

If you had chicken pox as a kid you are always at risk for shingles. There's a vaccine out for shingles that is supposed to reduce the risk; not sure how it works. if your kid gets chicken pox it does not increase your risk of getting shingles.

dont remember having them as a child nor does my mum. ive never heard of a vaccine. but my gp said id have to come of the pred if i caught them and take antiviral drugs.
so does that mean if i did have chicken pox im still at risk for shingles while im on pred?

seasons it is worrying, pred isnt even working for me and i still have to taper of it for another 2 weeks at least.

again i never heard of the vaccine!! imagine that. ill get a blood test done when im of the pred to see if im immune and request the vaccine. Thats if i manage to escape getting them.
