I'm surprised you've gone tens years after finding dysplasia.  Though things have changed somewhat recently, tens years ago, surgery was almost absolutely indicated after even a low-grade dysplasia finding.

Personally, that alone would be enough.

Low grade dysplasia can be a false positive whenever there is inflammation present. I had LGD once during a flare scope, and then for years have had annual or semi annual scopes with 40-50 biopsies each time, all negative for dysplasia. High grade is another matter.

OOOPS sorry to stir such contriversy , I have visited j-pouch sites but it is nice to hear from people with UC as I havnt had the surgery yet. My displasic was mild and has not shown anymore in reg scopes which she takes approx 30 biopsys . Im not as panicked as I was Wed , I will have followup with her in June and possibly time prior to scope . Unable to see her before in reg appt as was told by the all mighty gate keeper, aka the receptionist . Going to try day of scope anyway. Thanks to all on this site every opinion is something to consider and is appreciated.

You didn't stir any controversy. For some reason there is a member that posts here that likes to shell out totally false surgery statistics every time someone asks about having surgery for UC. It's very bad for people like yourself to read mis-leading information like that. I'm sure if you are like me and anyone else that had surgery, you will do your homework and get all the real facts, weigh all your options, and make an informed descision.
