Imuran and nausea?

Who has experienced this? Taking 100mg total, split 50 in the am and 50 in the pm. I usually can tolerate meds very well without experiencing the same side effects that others might experience, but I am suffering from pretty severe nausea for hours after each dose...full-on nausea with hot flashes, headaches, etc...

Did anyone else experience this, and how long did it last? Just started Imuran 4 days ago...

I don't experience nausea from it, and I take all three pills at once, although some people do feel sick I think... has it been happening from the very first dose? I don't think 100mg is a super high dose. I'm on 150. It could also be another med, I see you're also on Remi and pred. That is a lot of medication all at once. It could be your body needs to adjust, and things might improve when your medication is also adjusted. Imuran takes a long time to work, three weeks or longer. Good luck, maybe someone else will have more insight.

You can try taking them before bedtime to reduce some of the side effects. Nausea is pretty common in the beginning and your body should get used to it after a while. If you continue with severe nausea or you start having abdominal pain, contact your doctor as this may be a sign of pancreatitis.

I just started on 125mg of Imuran last Friday.  I take the pills all at once in the evening around dinner (which is 8pm or so for me as I eat late).  I think Friday night I may have had some nausea overnight but if I did it didn't really wake me up much.  Otherwise I didn't notice any side effects from it.  I was pretty worried, though, as I had read alot of people on here do get nausea from it. So I think its fairly common. I know most said it goes away after a month or two.

I wish mine would go away. I'm on a high dose 250mg. of Imuran. I was ok until the last dose increase in March and then it hit me. I told the Dr and he put me on Zofran the dissovable tabs. I don't think it's doing much good, because I still have nausea. I also take Pepto and that helps sometimes, gingerale helps sometimes too, but other than that, it's just an annoyance to be nauseous most of the time and I don't know whatelse to do. :( I'd hate to stop the Imuran because it really helps the UC, it's just the dang nausea.
