quick question,
along with the pain im getting in my upper abdomen ive also noticed a change in the blood. its now thick clotty and dark red. ive noticed its marbled through the stool aswel.

any thoughts any1.

I get blood like that too, in fact when I have blood it is most often like that. I just assumed there is a 'range' for each individual.

I believe the color of the blood has a meaning in terms of where it's location is and how fresh it is, ie. the older the blood the darker, the lighter the freshest.

While flaring I always bled ALOT, with heavy and large dark blood clots and clumps of mucuous and intestinal lining that would come out too.

This disease sucks, there's no question about that.

so if its dark red it comes from higher up the colon? does this mean I've got inflammation in another part now. im getting tested for h-pyroli next week. can it cause bleeing like that?

It could mean either higher up, or it could mean older blood.

The only way to  know for sure would be to go for a sigmoidoscopy.

H-Pylori, if you have it is an easy fix. But FYI, if you have it, you should have your significant other tested too, as odds are he/she might have it too as it can be transmitted (shared) between partners.

Could be bleeding from slightly higher in the colon, my inflammation goes up into the transverse colon, when I have pain it's in the upper abdomen and the blood in my stool always matches what you've described.

If you have formed stool, I doubt it's from higher up. It would most probably be in an area where the stool will sit for a bit longer and where the blood pools for a while (as inSF mentioned), such as the sigmoid on its way to the rectum....if you're not going very often and with diarrhea.

How often are you going daily?

Pain in the colon doesn't match where the inflammation is most times....it has a LOT to do with the spasming, however.

yeah Q my stools are formed and im going 2-6 times daily. i pass b and m everytime i pee also. so annoying-no such thing as a quick scoot to the toilet anymore.
was with my GI today and she has ordered me a camera down the throat and a ultrasound of the abdomen to see whats causing the pain i had. she said it could be the pancreas or something to do with the osaphagus (sp). so hopefully soon ill have an answer.

you should up the asacolon for sure to 2400mg at least.

Maybe trying the predfoam and Salofalk or Pentasa suppositories in conjunction.

Yes, definitely a flare....

Are you using any fibre supplements? Any probiotics?

i havent tried any fibre supps yet but ill look into it. the only probiotics i consume are in my yogurts. i was thinking of trying molkosan from A.Vogal. i saw it in the healh food shop. it has L+ in it????? any1 try it?
TBH Q i havent really made any changes to my diet as yet because im slimming. i eat really healthy stuff like fruit and veg, lean meat potatoes, rice and pasta. i have some scan bran in the am or porridge and snack on fruit and probiotic yogurts.

I was put on mezavant yesterday 2.4mg and predsol suppositories. dont see how the suppositories would be any better than predfoam. i would of thought the foam would reach further. My GI said this is last try of these meds before i have to take the biological route.
