So I had my 3 month follow up with my GI. I thought we were going to discuss how well the meds he gave me were working. In fact they are working very well. But when He came into the room all he wanted to discuss was that I gained 2 lbs in three months. I mean really??? First off I am on meds that cause weight gain, lyrica, have had a hysterectomy, have hypothryroid and being treated for it, and 2 ruptured disk in my back. O and I didn't bother to remove my shoes when I was being weighed in. I was furious. He proceeded to give me a lecture on calories like I was in 5th grade health class. I reminded him of my illness and that my primary doctor doesn't reccommend allot of walking but instead to do water exercise. I have joined the YMCA and get there as much as I can between work and home responsibilities it is hard sometimes when I am so fatigued. If it wasn't for the meds he put me on helping so much I don't think I would return to him. He isn't any skinny man either. He is short and round with no room to talk. He also told me that my job is easier than his and I can take the time to close my office and make people wait. I told him that was not true. That I am the only one there and I have people in an out all day long that need my attention. I don't just make my own hours. I was confused as to why we were even having this conversation.
Later that day I remembered I had sent in a survey and put my name on it. It was from my colonoscopy. I wanted them to know how much pain they caused me. I had one done in another state and NO Pain at all. They put me under enough that I didn't remember anything. This time with this doctor was horrible. I was in so much pain and awake and aware the entire time. I told them it was horrible that they did that and when I asked for more medication he would only permit the nurse just a little at a time. He even knew I was having major bowel spasms and said I needed to relax. Are you kidding me, RELAX when I'm in that much pain. Well, anyway thanks for letting me vent. I am going to talk to my primary doctor and see what I can do to get a different GI.
