I normally go in to see my GI doc every 2 weeks. The doc also asks me to do a blood test before each appt. (results come in within the hour). As ridiculous as this may sound, I didn't know that we shouldn't really be eating before one is done. So all this time, I've been eating my lunch beforehand (my appt is usually around 3 pm). I also sometimes drink a small can of Red Bull the energy drink (half the size of the normal 8 oz.one) since at times I feel fatigue and this drink helps. I don't drink more than 4 oz. per day. So I used to drink this in the morning on the day of my appt. since I have a lot of walking to do to get to the doc.
Every time I went and got the test results, my inflammation was high, which was understandable also since I had blood in my stools at times but since I found out that it's better to do a blood test on an empty stomach, I changed my routine. The other day, I had soup for breakfast at 7 am and no Red Bull. I went to the hospital and got my blood test done at 11 am, and then, took off for lunch until my appt. at 3 pm. On this day and from 2 weeks before, I had so much blood coming out each time (I ended up with a hemmorhoid I think?) I had a BM or even when I had gas come out before my BM. So I figured my blood test results would come out as high in inflammation, but the doctor told me that my results were very good and that it showed very little inflammation as compared to all the other times I had the tests done. He told me to continue doing the pentasa enemas nightly and to take my pentasa daily. Here I am wondering where else all that blood is coming from if it wasn't from the inflammation. I'm still bloody but the doc says to contact him if I have a fever and abdominal pain along with bloody stools; otherwise, he says he wouldn't really be able to help me even if I went to see him.
