Flaring Again and Getting Ready for Scope

Ugh. Flaring again. I've been doing really well since being in the hospital and starting remicade in November. I noticed some blood on stool in April. Assumed was hemmies. Had some more blood in July. Now urgency, mucus, blood, you know the drill starting this past weekend.

You know what's weird. I always flare after I have been on vacation! We were at the beach all last week. It seems like I get constipated on vacay and then when we get home I'm back and forth back and forth. My bum is sore!

I had been using hydrocort suppositories since thought initially was hemmies. Restarted cort enemas on Sunday.

I was already scheduled for a colonoscopy on Thursday so I will be interested to see what the scope shows. Dreading the prep tomorrow.

Hopefully I can do a short course of pred and up the remicade. My husband has a typed out list to give my doc since I will be loopy after the scope!

ah no, hope it doesnt mean the remicade has stopped working.

good luck with the scope.
maybe eat lightly today and you might not have a much to "get rid of" tm.

thats what i'll be doing in the future.

prep is the worst, i paid the wc a visit at least 30 times that day. didnt make it twice. yuk

I had a scope last week and i watched it wo sedation. uber cool. was a little bit uncomfortable, much like i needed to pass something but it was worth it.

I hope everything goes well for your scope.

Bleeding sucks. I hope your iron level is ok, did you have your GI check this?

And I also hope you'll get better soon.

hey pink. same thing happened to me with remicade. just randomly stopped working and i was bummed.

hope your colonoscopy goes without a hitch! i have one tomorrow and have been fasting a few days so i don't need the prep. might do a saline enema in the morning before the test at 2:30. i've always reasoned that this disease is a laxative in itself.

I just had all my bloodwork checked last month. Was a-ok!

I have to be at surgical center at 7:30 am Thursday. Scope time 8. So happy for an early appt. I love my GI but he always gets way behind on scope days. I had a flex sig in November and was there almost 5 hours they were so behind.

Hi Pink1. I wish you luck for your procedure! I was checking your signature and noticed that you were on then taken off Humira. Then switched to Remicade. Would you be comfortable sharing why?

I tried humira for 3 months. I had a scope before I started and 3 months after I started. My flare was worse and had gone from 20cm to 30cm w/ visible ulcers in the inflammation by the 2nd scope. At that point I was admitted to the hospital for a week where I went on bowel rest (picc line w/ tpn). I did IV pred. there. Then started w/ remicade.

I didn't mind the humira or the shots. It was very convenient to do at home. I wish it would have worked for me.
