Thanks to everyone who replied to my previous thread! I was able to talk to my GI about everything people mentioned that required a prescription but...
My GI told me that my condition right now is so severe that she doesn't want to substitute ANYTHING. She wants me to take Asacol HD 800 mg and the Rowasa enemas and doesn't want to substitute either of those for anything else. Has your GI ever said anything like that to you?? I mean, I do have severe UC but still...
So now I am filling out assistance paperwork to both companies that provide the medications to get them for free or for very low costs. I have very little doubt that I'll get rejected, but now I just have to wait until I can get it. I've done this before with other medications and never had any problems, so that's good! The flare ups are pretty painful, though...
Anyway, as far as over the counter medications, I am definitely going to try Slippery Elm!
