Meds without food

Anyone get sick if they take their meds without food?

What do you mean without food....at all or between meals?

Which med exactly?

Sick in what way?

Yes I used to get nauseated. Most prescriptions will state on the bottle "take with food" or I have seen "take with or without food". Also do not take your meds with citrus juice as it interferes with the absorption of the medicine.

My stomach burns and I get morning sickness-like nausea- every time I forget to eat in the mornings.
I grab some thing little, like a cracker or yogurt, and it goes right away.

One day I took Lialda and prednisone without food and I got urgency and stomach pain and then had to rush to the bathroom

I can take Lialda with no food but pred I definetely needed to eat something.

I usually take Lialda 30 minutes after breakfast, this is OK

Prednisone have to eat something usually took it with SCD yogurt.

I only take my probiotic without food. Everything else, I take on a full stomach.

You'll know once your done with your pred taper. However many people start to get symptoms back once the get to 20mg and below. I know I did the second time I was on pred. Rowasa enemas are very helpfull in addition to the Lialda.

Yeah I'm at 20mg now and definitely having more symptoms than when I was higher dosage. I'm not sure what Lialda does for me

I have left sided colitis and do very well with the Lialda but like I said the enemas play a key role too.

I get the generic Rowasa and with my last prescription coverage it cost me $13 for a 3 month supply where as my Lialda was $200 for a 3 month supply. I don't know how our new coverage will be. They are expensive if you don't have coverage though but not as bad as Lialda thats for sure.

Sherbear46-have you looked into the discount Rx card Lialda has? I've used for over 2 yrs now (have to renew each calendar yr). Normal cost is $100, I pay $10!! (and thats 120 tabs) I can't use it thru my mail order pharm, have to go to local CVS.

Usually a pharm tech waits on me, but last time it was the pharmacist and he was shocked! :-)

Kerplunk-I have actually gotten one for my new insurance because I have no idea what I will have to pay and this one doesn't require me to use mail order so I can use it. Hopefully it will help. :)

ChrissySoul-I for the most part have no symptoms. When I do start to have some I increase the enemas. Food wise I don't eat spicy food, raw veggies, and I don't do alot of dairy but I never really did eat alot of dairy. What bothers me one day may not the next but those things I really try to stay away from.

Yes, as far as I know. My dr gave me info on it when he first prescribed Lialda. Google "Lialda pharmacy savings card" and it should lead you to more info.

With my insurance I'm required to use Medco mail order pharmacy for other maintenance drugs but they do allow me to refill monthly at local CVS using this card...a tremendous savings of $90 a month!!
