scum1 - from my understanding it just depends where your UC is located. If it starts at your rectum and works up, then rectal meds probably would be prescribed, just so you can attack it from both sides. For me, and maybe you, it doesn't start at the rectum, it just starts further up, so those aren't needed, at least this is what I am told.
On a side note, my wife works for s surgeon who deals with this kind of stuff, and she was asking him questions. Apparently UC doesn't have to start at the rectum, and can start at any spot in your colon, so that clears some questions up. He also said that the only way they can 100% be sure you do have UC, is when they remove part of your colon, otherwise they are simply going off of symptoms and what they see. Biopsies will give them an idea, but apparently not 100% conclusive. Again this is just what her doctor said, so just one opinion, but that did help to clear up some stuff.
I'm definitely not symptom free either, after the first few days on meds I was, and was considering starting to lower them sooner, but yesterday and this morning, I started having some issues again, nothing major, but it’s there. Just a little bit of blood, but mostly cramping. I'm also coming down with a head cold, so who knows what it is. SO hard to tell what’s causing the issues anymore.
