Hi All
Just curious, but how many of you have had non-immediate allergic reactions to medications? Has anyone had an allergic reaction to a medication they have previously used for years with no dramas?
I am currently trying to figure out what is causing the inside of my mouth to swell. It was much worse(painful red swollen inside of mouth) but now i just have a little swelling to the inside of my lips and a red irritated area along the edge of my tongue. The trouble started after my third batch of colazal pills (Australia) and we changed meds just in case to pentasa suppositories. My mouth troubles got no better so i went to the dr and was put on a week of pred. Then i ended up with oral thrush as well. The thrush is clearing but as soon as i went off the pred the swelling and irritation returned.
The gastro thinks it unlikely to be the meds because i have been on various forms of mesalazine for over 2 years. But i am rather stumped as to what else it could possibly be. Is it within the realms of possibility that it is the mesalazine?
Current plan is to stop pentasa altogether and see if my mouth gets better, keeping pred on hand in case of UC flare up. Otherwise i guess it's off for allergy testing :(
Thoughts people!
