If I remember what I read correctly, there are a few different tests for C-Diff. The main one used by most tests for Toxins A & B in the stool. But, if too much time lapses (I think it was just a short few hours) or there are some kind of lab mistakes, the toxins are already broken down and no longer register on the tests. If you were using 3 samples of the same stool and these events happened, all three tests could give you false negatives.
