Since there is another thread that brought up T-BET thought I would look into it again.

Seems that it can be up regulated with specific protiotic strains.

this rings a bell may have tried the baby jarrow in the past,but dont remember any powdered

BB536 aka B.Longum is one of the three bifidobacteria strains in VSL3 as well. Thanks for posting this though- I just ordered some off amazon to give it a shot in a more concentrated form.

Thanks for the info pro,did not think to look at vsl3 in my haste to find this strain.

This is good info. Does anyone know how much of this particular strain is in VSL, compared to the amount in the Amazon link?

No idea how much bb536 is in vsl3,I suppose you could take a guess by dividing the total count by the number of strains.

Anyhow this bacteria looks to be safe it does not eat mucus or translocate.

Vsl3 gave me severe cramps after 2 weeks. I will try the single strain of this,bought the Urisense from Amazon,it contains cranberry extract but not a big deal to me.

One possible downside is with fecal transplants they say that adults will work better than infants,

but in the above bb536 trial it worked on people with UC.

I wouldn't trust that formula. I know when I have taken other multistrain probiotics they having varying amounts of each strain. For example a 50 billion probiotics could be broken up into strains containing 30B, 8B, 2B, and 10 different ones each containing 1B. It would be interesting to compare the number of bb536 in VSL to the 10B in the above posted probiotic from Amazon.

Just wanted to update this thread that old Mike started, so as to not inadvertantly spread false information: contrary to my input that various other products, eg VSL3, have BB536 in them, all I discovered was that they have b.longum. BB536 is a Particular strain (and a human one at that) of b.longum and I cant attest to these other products necessrily having that strain if b.longum. Of course, the BB536/UC study is just one small study, and there are many studies on b.longum in general and bifidobacteria in general having beneficial effects in general in the gut - but what I posted about VSL3 definitely having BB536 was incorrect speculation when I mistakingly assumed that all b.longum is BB536
