Since there is a lot of discussion in another thread as to whether you can be cured or not,here perhaps is one of the problems,with trying to achieve a cure as opposed to a remission.
If it works this way in humans.
After inflammation is gone there is still persistant epithelial dysfunction,leading to bacterial and endotoxin translocation,which
is greatly mediated by induceable NO. I have a thread on excess nitrates,nitrates,arginine in the diet.
