Can You use Humira just to get in remission and then go back to your other drugs like asacol and enemas if needed?

I never stopped taking my maintenance drug (Colazal) or the rectal meds the entire time I was on 6MP, then Remicade and finally Humira. Prednisone seemed to be the only drug which helped me but I became dependent on it and it was killing me. I had surgery in 2010 and am off all meds except Toprol for blood pressure.

I don't believe it would work. Humira works because you have an autoimmune condition, not just an infection or something that can be treated and it's gone. Humira does not cure it. If you went off Humira, logic says you will return to your prior state of health. And it is my understanding you cannot go back to using Humira again once you stopped using it. So you may end up as sick as when you started.

If it's working I think you would want to stay on it. Wouldn't want to take a chance on a big time flare! Oh nooooo

Never tried Humira but when I stopped Remicade things went downhill fast. I actually developed antibodies to it and it became ineffective. I was on Asacol and 6mp while I was on Remicade.
