Any chance I'll avoid THE BUG???

Oldest daughter is experience her first throw up bug EVER at almost 11 years old.  Any tips to help myself avoid catching it?  I'm washing my hands like crazy, wiping down door knobs and remotes.....sadly I stepped in it trying to keep the dog from eating it...gross I know....

I upped my probiotic a little, maybe up the vit. D?   I fear it's going to be unavoidable!  Bleh blech blah!!!!!!!!

The problem with viruses is that they're usually contagious before symptoms even start.

So, keep doing what you're doing but you may have been exposed several days ago.

It's hand to mouth, so make sure you don't share towels either.
Faucet handles and toilet lever as well need a disinfecting.

Vitamin D won't help for gastro bugs, but probiotics will...if yours are enteric coated, take one spilled into your mouth, swish it around and swallow (or add it to yogurt...the others by capsule.

I feel for your daughter...ugh, ugh, ugh...
Hope she feels better soon, and hope you and others in the family don't get it.

Your dog was just trying to be helpful...eeks.

I usually gargle. That really does help and yes, the hand-washing is a definite. If you don't have any prescribed mouth gargle then try with salt water.

Can't add much here but I think I would up the probiotic a lot. Wash hands a lot and quit breathing for a while. If you haven't had a flu shot yet I would get one asap but that won't help you out of your current dilemma.

Hand washing and wiping stuff down is great. However, I did all that and still got whatever bug my daughter got last year. She was probably contagious before she even started throwing up. Twenty four hours later I was throwing up. One good thing is that if it a stomach bug then odds are it won't bother your UC. Mine didn't thank goodness. Now an intestinal bug I am more worried about.

But I feel for ya. Yech!

Basically just disinfect the hell out of everything, and close the toilet lids when you flush to prevent aerosolization onto things like your toothbrush. And then disinfect some more.
