Low residue diet?

Hi Madpotter,
when I had to follow the low residue diet, i found it rather difficult at first, but it doesn't last forever..trust me, even though it feels like it sometimes. For breakfast I would eat toast with a little margarine and honey. I also had some soya milk (which, I also had to get used to). For morning tea, I would have a banana. Other fruits I would have would be cooked pears or apples (otherwise I would have tinned fruits). I found mangoes pretty friendly also, but everyone is different. Lunch time, I would have a tuna and avocado sandwich. I found eggs were good also. Dinner for me would be chicken (marinated with some paprika and sea salt....a little oil also), veggies on the side would include carrots, mushy peas, mushrooms or green beans (mashed). You pretty much have to avoid wholegrains, or anything that would be rough on your bowels. The doctor explained it was the opposite of what you are normally tought in regards to a high fibre diet. No fatty foods, low sugar, low fibre basically sums it up.

i would just stick to bone broths, meat, eggs, and whatever veggies/greens/fruits you can eat that don't cause problems. you don't even have to eat the veggies/fruits if you don't want to. i've talked to quite a bit of paleo people that don't eat anything but meat, eggs, nuts and seeds.

paleo and scd are similar i've noticed, but they do have differences, too. what i've done is taken what both the diets agree on and excluded everything else. so no starches (sweet potatoes, pumpkin), no seaweeds, no dairy, no grains, no legumes. i have been eating nuts but i think i need to cut them out since i am still seeing blood. it's just hard because i started following FODMAPS, too, and that eliminates about 10 other things that were in my regular diet (ex: avocados, apples, dates).

the site i hang out a lot on is www.paleohacks.com. people answer you back really quickly and a lot of people on the site have followed or are following scd, gaps, fodmaps. it's really helpful.

This is what I'm following right now since it seems to be the only thing that doesn't give me extreme pain. I'm at the point now where I really want to eat but the appetite for food just isn't there.

I think you really have to be very selective with the types of fruits and veggies you eat and they really shouldn't be raw ( from what I understand ). An internet search on low residue diet foods will give you a good idea as to what to try and what to avoid.
