haven't been on here for a while-have been educated on how i treat my U.C  when it flares in the last 10 months.Had broncitis in Jan of this yr-my primary care gave me zithromax-day after super bowl[early feb] everything was running out of me-thought i could get it under control but after 2 weeks i had lost 15lbs wasnt eating so had to check in to hosp-ended up in hosp 7 days-[no bleeding since being on 6mp last 18 months]-40mg pred-asacol[i take apriso but hosp gives u asacol because of price] immodium-liquid diet.U.C got better thank god-Sept lost my job-stressed out- moderate flare-eat light meals-immodium-Asacol-Acidopolous-Klonopin for anxiety-get good sleep-go to my 12 step mtgs-and male U.C support group mtgs .back to work U.C doing well.im 53y.o have had u.c since '85-hope u all find what works for u-GOD BLESS U ALL

Hey 3timechamp, good to hear from you. So sorry to hear about that nasty flare and losing your job, but it sounds like you have things under control now. Keep up your meetings -- what a good place to have friends and vent too! Take care, and keep us updated from time to time.

try to do things that make u feel positive about urself-walking-jogging-going to the gym-volunteering-the more time i have to not think about my U.C the better i am.positive actions improve my self esteem and that makes me feel positive which helps reduce stress-less anxiety-keeps my U.C with some help with some meds in check-god bless u all

You are so right 3timechamp -- anything to stay positive and focus on other things is great for the UC. Sometimes hard to do when it's knocking at the door, but heck, positive state of mind is a good thing! Take care.

i'm glad to have put those days behind(:-) )me, at least for now - the feeling is almost beyond words, having my life back after not having one for so long - all the things champ said -

it is a wonderful life ! (hey, Christmas is right around the corner )
