Saw a DR. yesterday

So I saw my out of pocket guy yesterday, who prescribes me ldn. He seems way more intelligent and out of the box than my g.i. This guy seemed shocked I have let myself suffer through almost a year of flaring... and suggested that had I taken an anti-biotic (he recommended cipro), coupled with maybe a anti-fungal, and probiotics, I would be way better off, and sooner.

He didnt recommend I take it now, as Im (slowly) on the mend.. but that was his thought.. that taking an anti-biotic and probiotic would at least not *hurt*... It seems to me anything can hurt if the cards are wrong.

He is also a fan of FT, though we havent really discussed cost, logistics, etc. Hes also suggest a probiotic enema, which of course one of the more arrogant g.i.s I saw really scoffed at, saying he'd "never heard of a probiotic enema".... (read: prednisone).

Anyway.

Nommore, thats interesting, I took flagyl initially (Spring 2011) before I knew what I had, suspecting a parasite... It helped slightly, then the subsequent asacol put me into remission within a month. I have wondered if the lack of antibiotic the second time (asacol only) has had anything to do with the stubbornness of this flare. My g.i. did warn me that if I re-flared after remission, that the asacol doest not tend to work as well the second time, which proved true. Im just reluctant to take antibiotics for fear of making things worse... I wish I knew what to do there......

i actually do think a short course of antibiotics can help. even though it kills all the bacteria, it gives you a chance to really push the probiotics or fecal transplants and hope that they take over before the bad does again.

I like his ideas. I tried cipro/flagyl combo last time I was flaring and I am not sure I have any positive impact from it. It didn't hurt though, maybe it helped, not sure, I was on prednisone.
