what pain reliever to ask for?

I'm usually fine with something with hydrocodone / tylenol. It's the NSAID type stuff I avoid like the plague (tends to be harsh on the gut). Hydrocodone has the extra benefit of working like immodium for me as well, but that's not the benefit everyone likes. There are combinations of this in brands that can be called in, but most of them usually require you give the prescription in written form for these drugs.

It's really sad when I get pain and I know something like Advil will work. Like when I had costochondritis. Advil and aspirin seem to punish me every time I take it.

Tylenol II w/ Codine has been good for all of my UC related pains.

Although you probably know this, it's important for most (or all?) UC patients to avoid Aspirin (salicylic acid) and Advil (ibuprofen).
