Thank you all for your kind responses, I will carefully
research each of your suggestions.
Somedude,
My accident was on November 2011. After the crash, I
immediately had terrible back pain (lower back pain), and although I was
strapped in, I think my head may have hit the steering wheel. I was in a fog
when it happened, exchanged info with the idiot who hit me from behind (she was
in a SUV on her cell, I was in my Mini Cooper, haha - not so funny now). I
didn't think I was hurt enough to go to the ER. And figured the pains would go
away. Within a few weeks, I started getting cognitive problems, neck, and back
problems. But I figured they'd go away too. When my symptoms started getting
much worse, and I had numbness and pins/needles in my legs, and clearly began
forgetting my words mid-sentence and I was startled at what a f----- moron I had
turned into, I decided it was time to see some doctors and a lawyer ( that was
in Feb 2012).
I never mentioned anything on the forum, because I figured
there was no point. But in the last 4 months, my symptoms have gotten really bad
- lots of continual pain, etc...- and I remembered I had a HealingWell family
(you all) who might be able to help me, so I reached out, and am very grateful
for all your support.
Sherry, thanks for the idea of posting on Chronic Pain. I
will definitely do that.
Sherbear and Fruitgirl, I think it was surgery that they did
through my back, it wouldn't be as scary to me. Although anything to do with the
spine is pretty serious. As far as steroid shots, I was almost going to go, and
then the famous meningitis outbreak happened (as a direct result of the steroid
shots) so I'm not too keen on that anymore.
Babe, thanks for the link to the low level laser therapy. I
will have to research into it; I like the fact that it has few risks and seems
much safer. I don't know if the surgery would lessen the possibility of
paralysis if there was another accident or bad fall. One of the neurologists I
went to who does not do surgery and is very conservative in her approaches, told
me that she's seen many cases like mine, where the patient has surgery, and then
3 years later needs another surgery to correct more problems, and then another 2
years from that needs more surgery, and in 10 years time the patient is in a
wheelchair - she basically told me to get medicated and learn to live this way.
Kazbern, I tried some physical therapy and it made my symptoms
much worse, so I had to stop.
As far as finding a surgeon who will operate through my back,
that's a good idea.
Quincy, I went to see 1 surgeon, he told me he'd do it through
the throat, and would have to use a triple to fuse the area - C4-5-6. I guess I
should get another consult from another surgeon.
Gary, you would think...but my lawyer told me that the auto
insurance co. the woman who hit me has is a known non-payer. I told him how my
life has been impacted, but we'll see. So far, I have plenty of medical pills
building up from all the MRIs and doctors, etc...
