Anyone when on blood thinners see symptom improvement

Just wondering since I found a paper which I have posted in my vitamin K thread.

Basically they were blocking K with oxidized vitamin E and UC improved.

Also there is an old paper where the docs thought that UC was due to ischemic conditions.

Only because I was already thru the worst of the flare and tapering down pred. Doctors immediately moved me to the ICU because they felt being on IV Heparin while bleeding in the gut was a dangerous combo. Basically I hid the blood and did not report it - I needed the blood thinning. I remained in the ICU because UC did not spin out of control which they were obviously concerned about.

I was on blood thinners for a few years due to a DVT from being hospitalized -no improvement in my UC symptoms at all unfortunately.

i was on blood thinners in the hospital for 7 days and i've never bled so much. the doctors said it is protocol to give them to people who are in hospital beds, so i had shots every day in my abdomen. it didn't help my UC at all.

That is a really interesting study. I find blood thinners while bleeding to be counter-intuitive.

Heparin is really strange stuff. I was doing the take home shots sub-q into the belly but would immediately go numb from head to toe. This began with the 'training' shot at the hospital. They never saw this reaction before so I would lie down for 30 minutes scared out of my wits that the paralysis was going to expand beyond the right arm. This caused them to keep me for another day.

Ischemic colitis is also interesting. The last flare over the summer was pretty bad and my stomach became irritated if I merely touched the skin. None of the doctors/staff had heard of this.

I had blood thinners after a major surgery in april (not related to colitis) and I bled from every where,
I even had purpura all over my arms.

Fish oil is a natural blood thinner as well as an effective anti-inflammatory.

I was just doing more research today on my theory of the histamine connection to UC. I was surprised to read that heparin helps reduce histamines in the body which in turn acts like an anti-inflamatory. Still, I would be scared to death to take heparin as a treatment option.

Many of us IBDers find fish oil very helpful for UC. Not everybody of course, because everyone is different You will see fish oil in many of our signatures. It helps balance our omega-3s and also helps with arthritis and depression.

fish oil seemed to do nothing for me, but give me fishy breath. Yes we are all different, but I believe it's better to just eat more fish than get into supplements.
It's the same with many things take juicing for instance, you can simply eat the veggies and avoid the juicer all together, that way you get nutrients, minerals, etc., delivered the way nature intended them to.
Like we've all said, it's different for all of us, but simple is good.
