Just existing

Haven't been on in awhile....feeling pretty hopeless right now, pretty much bed ridden, constant pain and diarrhea..many other horrible symptoms, this all started when my dr took me off ativan 2 mg three times a day cold turkey....I wasnt even able to function for months and I'm still having withdrawals. Was having 20 plus bloody stools day and night and ended up in the hospital. Had colonoscopy and was put on pred,  apriso, bentyl, and the blood has pretty much stopped, but the gut wrenching pain and not be able to eat anything or go anywhere, barely getting out of bed is getting the best of me, and my family. I'm so depressed, I was just hoping someone could give me some hopeful advice.....I'm a 46 year old single parent of a 14 year old son and I'm seeing the affects its having on him too....I just want even a semi normal life....spent Thanksgiving in bed..very depressing.

Boy, it's hard to follow a Quincy Post..they are always so helpful. I say, do what she says!!! I feel badly for you. Being a single mom must be so rough. On the bright side, your son will be an amazing husband some day as he develops his empathy. Focus on taking care of you. Otherwise, you can't take care of him. Best of luck!

oh butterfly. i know how you feel. i've been bedridden during every one of my flares. some of us are just really affected when we are flaring. i just want to give you support and say that you aren't alone. it must be so hard taking care of someone else. i just have me but i always feel like a burden in my household.

Thank you all for your kind caring words and support. Quincy, your truly a God send. I havent been on the forum in awhile, and it wasnt because Ive been better. My dad passed away and my only brother was in a auto accident and is now brain damaged and in a rest home and I'm watching my mom go down hill. My md put me on the ativan to help manage my uc, and it worked, I was able to work and function, Ive since lost my job. My gi told me my last colonoscopy showed a flare, and put me on enemas, apriso, bentyl and prilosec, and this was done just a couple months ago. I was in the hospital for a week, with a porta potty next to my bed due to the urgency and diarrhea. My dr said Im not a canidate for surgery...hmmm...does he really care that my lifes falling apart, he said to come back on an as needed basis...everyday!ha! I use to be so strong, wonder woman, raised three wonderful boys as a single parent working 3 jobs at one time, with uc. I want that back, and I'm not giving up! Just going through a really hard time right now and its causing me to be depressed...just want a normal life and to feel good....I love this forum, the encouragement I get on here means more to me than you'll ever know, gives me hope that this will hopefully soon pass! Butterfly, maybe a second opinion regarding surgery might be a good idea, especially with the symptoms you're having.
