I had no idea it was "Crohns/Colitis Awareness Week" this week. This was passed by Congress. Here is the link about it. :

Thanks cita that was an interesting read,

The article mentions a "Restroom Access Act granting employee-only bathroom access to IBD patients" which sounds like a great idea to me (I've often wondered what would happen if I ran into a situation where I need to urgently go and the only option is a bathroom labeled employees only). Apparently, Massachusetts is the 13th state (latest count I could pull up) to adopt that law. The Boston Globe article goes on to say you need a drs note with you in order to gain access to those facilities.

From another article:
"For example, many of those pesky "Restrooms for Employees Only" signs that hang in most small businesses are actually in direct violation of building codes. Nearly all states have plumbing codes that require businesses to provide restroom access for customers and visitors. In New Hampshire, denying entry to a bathroom is a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum $1,200 fine." (haha I live in NH so that's a great piece of info to have on the backburner in case I ever need to state it somewhere with my cheeks-clenched together tightly tongue )

cita, how much imuran are you going to start on?

also keep in mind that imuran could take 3-6 months to work.  looks like you are on pred, i also used pred as a bridge to imuran, i weaned off the pred after 6 weeks on imuran, had a bit of bleeding so my gi dr upped my imuran from 50 to 100 (back in july/august).

with imuran, i had some nausea and stomach pains for the first few weeks.  take the imuran after you have eaten, not on an empty stomach.  also, i stopped taking my multivitamin and the stomach pains stopped.  i will even tell you that 6 weeks into imuran, i had a gallbladder attack and in august had my gallbladder out, all with no problems with my uc.    Now, 6 months later on imuran, i feel great, no side effects.  every once in while i have some blood, so i still use rectal meds.

There's a large movement on FB about Crohn's and colitis week. Everyone is putting their profile pic as the CCFA's Crohn's and colitis week picture.

Michigan just adopted the bathroom access act (also called Ally's law) not too long ago and I'm tickled! I haven't had to act upon it yet but I'm glad to know that I have that option.

That proclamation was made May 25th, 2011 and it was by the democrats in the Senate.

I'm sure the republican-led house of representatives would have instead stated in all of their ignorance "Can't you hold it in or what are you a 2-year old or something?" or claim lack of personal-responsibility on the behalf of the chrons/uc-ers "must be all of those greasy fast food and bad choices they made" and furthermore "I don't want my tax dollars going to help them" ... or something lol tongue

I am starting tomorrow at 200mg. I think it's a bit high, but the doc doesn't. My weight is so high ( I am trying not to get too loony about that), so that's why.

Because my son is diabetic, I'm always at our Walgreens for him. The pharmacist saw the doc's prescription for Imuran yesterday and called me today. She was concerned that the dosage was too high and was putting a call into him. Now that's service!

Just finished my workout and had a spinach omelette...feeling pretty good right now! A decaf skinny vanilla latte will be my afternoon treat!
