I decided just three days ago to give L-glutamine a decent try. I'm taking 2g three times a day on an empty stomach. Does that sound like a decent dose? Should I try more less? On the second day the blood was darker but yesterday it was pretty bright again. Today I had darker blood again. No clue if this means improvement or if it means I'm worse or if it means nothing at all. I had maybe three less trips to the bathroom but the BMs came throughout the day (two weeks ago BMs were concentrating in the morning except if I ate something obviously wrong...like some dark chocolate and then cramps and D within 20 min.

I'm so sick of having bloody diarrhea, but it's nearly impossible to know what is helping or not. One day things are a little better, then the next day I have an accident. I can't seem to get to a stable place to experiment , so I'm thinking I should just go ahead and try stuff.

I think next I'll order VSL#3

VSL actually has studies where it not only helped those with UC but put some into remission. Unfortunately, those large doses are hard to afford. I don't think insurances even cover the dosages that were taken in the studies.

Sorry, I don't know how the glutamine is affecting you...

I used to take 15grams a day while flaring, now I am down to 5g per day.

I agree with Gary, if you can afford it, the VSL #3DS would be well worth it.
