Indi,
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry about your wife's recent results.
I definitely agree with probiotic about getting a high level Mayo or Cleveland Clinic type second opinion.
I would recommend you look into LDN, low dose naltrexone. It has a good track record of putting people in remission with UC and Crohns, but in addition has been used with all stages of cancers with success, and has also been shown to prevent cancer. Let me know if you need all the links, and i will post them for you. BTW, don't expect your doctor to tell you about it, because they don't generally see it as a viable drug because its' not one big pharma makes money on. But you can get this prescribed generally through an open minded GP or a holistic type doctor.
I think ItsAlwaysSomething also had dysplasia initially, and her doc wanted to do surgery, but she didn't want to, and looked at certain alternatives (slippery elm powder, L-Glutamine, LDN, plus others), and now after 2 follow up colonoscopies has no signs or dysplasia... perhaps the moderators could put you in touch directly?
My best advice to you would be to look at all your options, do lots of research, get some second opinions, and even third one if you need to. Just because 1 doctor says surgery, doesn't necessarily mean that's a final decision. You need more medical input, IMO.
Let me know how we can help you.
