I flared up pretty bad and went to the ER on Friday night, the doc gave me a visual rectal exam (no finger inter ally as I said thats where I was having the worst pain). They did a CAT scan that showed inflammation but no abscess. I was hydrated via IV and prescribed some non-narcotic pain meds (mistake) and sent home to follow up with my GI.
Of course the Tramadol they gave me was simply not enough to help with the pain so I went back to the ER Sunday night, where a different doctor used his finger, quite forcefully it felt like but then again anything in there felt like a great force. They prescribed some better pain meds and I am managing now until I can get to my GI.
Problem now is that I was not having bleeding before, but now I have bright red on the TP, some in the water and it feels somewhat like hemorrhoids, itchy and swollen, and still very tender further up the rectum. I assume this is from the rectal exam, is it possible the doctor should not have use his "manual" approach given how fragile the area was or is this just a standard thing to deal with? Just hoping this doesn't complicate things further.
