First Remi treatment today

I did not know what to expect. I had some flu like symptoms, headache, and was very tired after the treatment.

I am not in a flare now, just really bad cramps and a yo yo of constipation and the runs. Still cramping tonight.

Can somebody please help e understand what to expect? I got a tremendous amount of happy talk from the infusion nurse which I expected. What I really want is to know what has happened to real people taking this treatment and what to expect in the future. I reel really crappy tonight, have cramps and constipation. Not what I was hoping for tbh. I have been diagnosed and on meds for over 20 years

i remember being constipated after my first infusion. it had been normal for me to go 12x prior to the remicade and when it cut me down to 1-2x a day, my belly was BLOATED. i was tempted to take laxatives because i was so uncomfortable. even though 1-2x is normal, it was so crampy and i honestly would've rather had the diarrhea so it was out of me.

it passed though after a few weeks and then i was back to about 3-4x a day. the tiredness and headaches remained throughout all of my infusions though. i would get 3 day migraines after each infusion where i couldn't do anything. i also needed like 12 hrs of sleep a night plus a nap each day.

i'd say my favorite part was my infusion nurse! she was really happy like yours probably is. i always had infusion friends, too, and it was nice to talk with them.

After first infusion. My cramping was completely gone and my BMs stopped for at least 12 hours. I had more energy than a nuclear reactor, i felt cured. It was great :)

I'm always tired after my infusion, but that's probably mostly from the Benedryl.
Usually feel pretty tired for a few days after the infusion as well.
Many people mention bad headaches they have after the infusion as well.

Are you being premedicated with Benedryl and Tylenol?

When I first started I didn't notice a marked improvement right away. It was after my third treatment I started feeling good again. In the beginning I would get headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, stomach pains and nausea. I've been on Remicade now for over a year and had my 13 th infusion last month. I no longer get those side effects except fatigue from the Benedryl and some very mild nausea but that goes away the next day.

Forgot to mention, I premedicate with Benedryl and Solumedrol.

I am currently taking taking remacaid infusions. It is great. I've been taking it for almost a yr now. The only thing I can say is that very time I take it I get infections. But, I would deal with infections over flare up any day :). I do get tired after the infusion but I think it's from the benedryl.
