My son is hardcore Paleo. Short funny story.

This is the one without the colon.

He is working at his landscape storage lot,and my granddog is along.

Son leaves the door open in the truck,and goes to do something,comes back and the dog is gone.

He sees him shaking something,goes over and dog killed a ground hog,shook it so hard broke the spine in many

places. 

Anyhow my son says to himself,hmmmm fresh meat, so he skins and guts it,this is his first time by the way.

Cuts the head,feet off.

Takes it home and into the crock pot, after a few hours it is nice and tender.'

He ate a few fork fulls and shared the rest with the dog.

The meat is dark and mild tasting,not great but not bad.

His wife would not touch it.

Actually the dog was not sure he wanted to eat it,but did.

Dog is also on a Paleo diet.

Gross. Is he the one that bought the grass fed beef in a can? How did that work out.

Your story reminded me of my pop-pop who loved possum (or maybe it was muskrat) which he boiled to get rid of the gaminess. Whew did that stink up the house and my grandmother would not eat it. They were both country folk but my pop-pop was more country than mom-mom. No, I was not tempted to eat it at all.

He also caught, or would get from someone who caught them, very large snapper turtles and butcher them for snapper soup. He lived (to a long age) and died in Delaware.

I've never even heard of anyone eating groundhog before. I picture it being kind of stringy xD

Yes, you're right of course.

Having your colon out does change your perspective.

I"m glad he's doing well on Paleo. That's great.

At least it was fresh....
