Years ago when I was on Mayo employee insurance, the prescript
ion coverage was awful. My co-pays were 30 to 40 percent of the drug cost, and U.C. drugs can be outrageous. For example, the sulfide free Rowasa I use now has a cash price of about
$2000 for a months supply.
NSSG, what's your out of pocket max for prescript
ions? At Mayo it was about
$1500 if I remember correctly.
BTW I don't consider my OP to be a political rant. A rant yes, but only against lying, incompetent politicians, and we have plenty of them in this country. Having our per-person out of pocket max jump to $5000 was a huge shock. Moral of the story, forget about
what the politicians tell you about
healthcare reform, the reality will be very different, and we, as chronic disease suffers, will be heavily affected.
While it is true that much of Obamacare doesn't kick in until 2014, insurers are making changes now in anticipation of the new rules so they will have enough money to cover claims
