The go-to-guy for this is Richard Burt at the
Feinberg School of Medicine at
Northwestern University. The autocomplete on Google will fill in before you type half that probably.
There are some drug trials ongoing in Phase III for a new (the first actually)
stem cell drug called Remestemcel-l. Dr. Burt would actually do a
complete transplant of the immune system, a much more in-depth and 'last
step' option. In fact, I'm not sure it would be done for UC (I don't know though) maybe just Crohns. Wouldn't hurt to inquire though.
