Intense Joint Pain

What meds specifically are you on? And how long have you been  on them?

Your intense joint pains only started after the tapering?

IMO, it's probably a combination of meds, and extra-intestinal IBD symptoms, including Leaky Gut Syndrome too.

What does your doc say about it?

Diagnosed severe Left Sided UC 15 OCT 2012
Six weeks of 800 mg 'meselomene, 40 mg prednisone with no improvement on 20-30 bloody BM a day Stopped meselomene and started 75 mg Imuran two weeks ago and began tapering by 5 mg a week for two weeks now currently at 15 mg.

Keep us updated, I'm curious to know if any of the medicine you have been taking has something to do with this. I'm currently dealing with the same issue while using only mesalamine, at age 22.

I believe it is safe to say that my intense joint pain from the ankles to my hips is probably symptoms associated with tapering off Prednisone and taking Imuran for UC

During my last flare I suffered crippling joint pain in my knees, wrists, and hands. As well as skin rashes on my arms and legs, eye inflammation, and severe weight loss. But because all these symptoms immediately disappeared when my flare ended I concluded that these were extraintestinal lesions or common complications of IBD. about 25 percent of IBDers are the lucky ones who have arthritis accompanying their flares.

So I believe a first step would be to end your flare and hopefully your joint pain will lessen. Perhaps you are tapering pred too quickly. At any rate you must must must somehow get into remission but prednisone is excellent short term but it is definitely not a long term solution.
