Humira users

Just checking in to see how you all are doing. I just took my loading dose this morning. Not too bad. I am praying this works for me. I will keep you all updated.

Faithmac, did you try Remicade first? I'm about to quit Remicade although it's put me in remission, due to a constant mono infection that I cannot shake. If I need Remi again and it doesn't work I'd like to have hope that Humira is there.

Thanks for the reply Faithmac! I hope the mono is gone soon, too! I met a friend of a friend this weekend who had heard about me from her, and he said he referred to me a sickboy, haha. Need to change that!

Yes Faithmac I agree with you, you body will catch up with your words of I'm feeling great soon. Positive thinking!

I'm doing ok. Better. Still blood. At least I'm not feeling like I have the flu anymore. I take a multi and extra zinc to help my immune system.

I'm taking ferrous sulfate (iron) now too every day. I'm thinking of adding my seawee and vitamin K one at a time and see if it helps.

I take my next shot on the 15th. Last two shot after my loading dose didn't go so well, medication came out of pen. Probably my error. I will not pinch the skin on my stomach then do the pen, this may help.

When i go to the bathroom, my gas and stool smell like death! I don't understand this???

therearemiracles, are you still taking reg meds??? I think the key to remission is to stay on reg meds while on Humira. The meds were not helping before Humira. Now they seem to work when I have a problem. I backed off of rectals. Take them once or twice a week. Stayed on orals.

Thoreau-Remicade is made with mouse antibodies, so if you become immune to them, you should be able to take Humira. It is made with Human anitbodies.

FM, do you still take DHEA? I was tested and low, I started and stopped. I guess I should get back on that too

Yes Therearemiracles ,I still take DHEA. I get tested every three months. I'm always low. Just upped vit d to 10,000iu. I have osteoporosis of the spine now. I think that was from pred use. I'm still taking everything . I'm not rocking the boat .

Not that this is much help to the OP, but figured I might find some encouraging words myself. I am supposed to start taking Humira ASAP, starting with the loading dose and then every 2 weeks from there. I have been VERY sick and am quite worried about what will happen if it doesn't kick in quickly. I haven't taken Rowasa (generic) for a couple days now, because I go so often that I can't really retain it for more than an hour....3 if I'm very lucky. I had only been on it for a week. I am losing too much weight, and tried to eat more the past couple days even though I'm not hungry AT ALL, but that just makes me go more :( I've considered going gluten free, but don't feel like I can limit the very little I'm eating at this point...and my doc told me to stick to low fiber, so it seems too much fruits and veggies wouldn't be great either. I guess I'm just scared, confused and ranting....sorry to hijack the thread. Praying I can get on the Humira soon and that it helps A LOT and fast!!

I started Humira beginning of October and was doing every 2 week maintenance. I didn't feel it helped at all, urgency, blood, trips to the restroom, you name it. This past Friday I started giving myself weekly doses, and on Sunday I felt much better. I don't know if this is because of the weekly dosage or it's because Humira is starting to build up in my body as I have been on it for 3 months. Whatever it is I have to wait and see if improvement continues.

I actually prefer the syringe over the pen. I was using the pen for a while until one time the pharmacist accidentally gave me the syringe, and I have been on syringe ever since. To me, syringe stings less, you can actually see medicine going in, and you can control how fast it's going in. Try to relax as much as possible. I give it on my left thigh. Just my two cents. Therearemiracles , DHEA does not do much for my sex drive. I take hormones and the DHEA . Or maybe it does. Not sure. Menopause sucks! I'm 57 now, trying to fix that situation with the compounded hormones. Getting the UC under control was my major concern.

All the new Humira peeps ,take all your meds. It's not a miracle cure. I felt a whole lot better in the first few months. I needed to take it weekly to to really feel good. Even my joint pain got better. The weekly injections made a world of difference. Hope you all feel better:)

Lemon, did you do the shots in the stomach or thighs?

I did all 4 in my thighs. Did all 4 in one day, but 2 in the morning and 2 before bed. I called the nurse hotline and she even gave me the option to do them 2 on Mon and 2 on Tues. But since they made me kinda sleepy, I did them before bed.
I wanted to them in the stomach, but I have significant stretch marks from my pregnancies.
