What is this??

Simply put I feel awful. So lethargic, like I could fall down. I'm so weak, increased heart rate at rest, serious brain fog, can't concentrate, hurts to type. I have no idea how I'm going to work tomorrow. I'm totally slouched and can't stand up straight. The last time I felt like this was in October when I had c-diff. My bowel seems fine, with the exception of bright yellow/gold stool. That was a symptom of c-diff too. I was in the hospital, took so much time off work I almost got fired.

I started flagyl again and just got my shipment of VSL. So I'll start that today. This is not the cold/flu.

Any other ideas?

Good question. No, not in years. My UC is treated with pentasa and IVIG. My last infusion of that was 2.5 weeks ago. I felt fine. I started back at work last week and started feeling this badly on Friday. Realized the symptoms were the same as c-diff, but without the d. I don't want this roller coaster again!

I used to get 3 infusions every 3 months. But now its once a month. You are correct it is not a standard UC treatment but studies continue on its effectiveness. I was actually prescribed it after I developed pyoderma gangrenosum on my legs but it happened to put my UC in remission. And yes because it's human antibodies there are few side effects, and certainly cancer is not one of them. (Incidently I haven't had a cold since beginning this 3 years ago!) They don't prescribe it because the cost is prohibitive. Biologics have nothing on this stuff! It runs anywhere from $5-10,000 per infusion. The other reason is that there is a short supply. Simply not enough blood donors. It takes 1000 donors to make enough for an infusion. But the research is growing enough to treat Alzheimer patients with IVIG.

I'm simply struggling with what looks like c-diff and not colitis. (was hoping as usual the New Year would start off better)

Anyway, please spread the word about IVIG and be a donor:)

I've told my doc, he doesn't seem to be very concerned. I had the bright yellow stools in hospital & my liver is fine.

I have no fever. Just extreme fatigue, I simply don't feel well to the point of tears. Bowel is fine, except color. Increased heart rate. My monitor says 95 at rest. Bp is normal.

Within 2 hrs of taking flagyl I feel well enough to get out of bed & putter around, until it wears off. I've been on flagyl since Sunday.

I took my first 1/2dose of vsl today

Thanks for the iron idea. No my iron level is decent. I can't take supplements but I was trying the spinach/sunflower oil diet just before Xmas so I'm good. I have no bleeding. Pretty sure it's c-diff. Never will forget the feeling. Also was nauseous and headachy but that has subsided since taking the Antibs
