Remicade helped me achieve remission after a 18 month flare.
My GI took me through doubling my Lialda, Hurmia and finally 6MP. Ended up in the hospital for 5 days after not reacting well with 6MP.
My GI recommended Remicade and it has worked very well for me. Was able to get off Prednisone after being on it for almost the whole 18 months.
There is a loading phase with Remicade, so don't expect things to improve right away. Usually take up to 5 infusions before symptoms improve. I saw improvements after 3 infusions.
Wasn't thrilled with the fact of having to resort to bioliogics to achieve remission, but that's what it took, so I'm going with it.
Since the list of medications to try is growing much shorter this might be a good time to meet with a few surgeons just in case things go south.
Find someone that wins your trust and can answer all your questions. jpouch.org is a great place to start looking for approved surgeons in your area.
Really hope Remicade works as well for you as it did for me.
