Thanks guys - but I'm not sure if this answers my questions. Basically, I started canasa mesalamine suppositories. But, I wonder. I am currently taking vedolizumab for about 6 months now and it has healed everything but the rectum and some of the sigmoid colon (I had pancolitis to begin with). Vedolizumab works by blocking the inflammatory process. From what I know of mesalamine, it also works by blocking certain inflammatory substances so in essence it also blocks the inflammatory process. If vedolizumab hasn't been able to do much with the rectum, why would mesalamine suppositories, which have similar mechanisms, do anything for the rectum?
Shouldn't I just take something different like hydrocortisone suppositories? And if so, are they strong enough because several have said that the foam is much stronger and that the suppositories are too weak. Most of my inflammation is in my rectum so it's not about needing to go up further.
